Leadership

Leadership

  • Our main leadership PL opportunity is the Wellington Leaders in Education Programme. This course is rooted in the rigorous science of positive psychology and draws upon the latest research into leadership from within and beyond education, supported by the Department of Education at the University of Oxford. It has taken particular inspiration from Harvard Business School’s Leadership Initiative and the University of Pennsylvania’s Positive Psychology Centre. The programme is taught through an examination of key research; the sharing of practical tools; and an emphasis on discussion and reflection.
  • The programme consists of core and elective modules, and leads to a certificate and diploma; modules can also be taken individually, without working towards the diploma/certificate. Quality assurance for this programme is provided by the Department of Education at the University of Oxford.

Public Speaking

We run two courses for staff on public speaking. One is for experienced middle and senior leaders with a view to improving their performance in front of large audiences (such as assemblies). The second is for teachers who want to be able to use their voice to improve their teaching and classroom management. Techniques are taught which facilitate projection and breathing. These courses are run as twilight sessions over 6 weeks in the Lent term. For more information please contact RJAM@wellingtoncollege.org.uk.
